Aspen’s icon local favorite watering hole the Red Onion dates back to the last years of the silver boom glory. Built in 1892 by Thomas Latta who names it the New Red Brick Saloon as it’s an upgrade for the original Red Brick Saloon. It gets renamed the Red Onion during the late 1940’s as Aspen transforms into a ski town and becomes one of the only and hence best gathering spots in town. It hold onto its local cred into the its last reincarnation which close in 2020 but all hopes are in it opening again soon.
